Lee made the stay especially easy from the start. Before I’d even booked, he patiently helped me through the booking portal when I was struggling with the technology. He met us at the front door, showed us up, and explained how things worked. The apartment was spotless and well kept, with pillowcases that looked ironed and a cleaner’s seal on the toilet, exactly my kind of detail. The kitchen had all the cutlery, plates, cups, glasses and utensils, even a can opener and grater, plus a plastic food cover for the microwave. I dropped my wife and our 4-month-old baby at her mother’s, five minutes away, then came back for a day to relax. Lee put us in the corner apartment, so we had windows on two sides and good ventilation while staying warm over the weekend. We had a wonderful time. Lee was so attentive he was only missing a top hat and white gloves. Halifax House is where we’ll stay when we visit the old drago..😑 I mean mother-in-law again.

I’ve had a few bad surprises when booking places, so I was apprehensive, but this apartment really impressed me. It was about 33 feet by 10 feet and had everything I needed: a double divan with two drawers, a small wardrobe, a bedside cabinet with drawers, and a fully equipped kitchen with an iron and board, kettle, toaster, microwave, washing machine and cooker. Everything was clean and tidy. There was also a dining table and chairs, a proper bathroom with toiletries, and coffee pouches and milk sachets in the fridge. I bring my own tea, coffee and sugar wherever I stay, even in a hotel. The TV had a bracket so I could watch from bed, too. It was just right for me, and I’d book again without hesitation if I work in Halifax. Ten out of ten.

I withdrew my application after being messed around for more than a week. I’d been sent a move-in date of the 6th of July, but the day before, they said the flat’s electrical certificate still needed completing, so I couldn’t move in. We had no other arrangements because we were counting on moving in on the 6th. They said they’d book Linden Electrical for the following Monday. On Monday the electrician called to say he’d mixed up the dates and would come Tuesday. On Tuesday he called again and pushed it to Wednesday. Then on Wednesday he said nobody was coming that day and they didn’t know when anyone would. If they’d told me sooner that the certificate wasn’t ready, I’d have withdrawn my application. Terrible service. I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else, and good luck if you’re planning to stay here.

I lived in this apartment for almost two years. It’s a good place, and the agency handling maintenance are nice people who sorted out any problems quickly. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced studio apartment in Halifax, I recommend it.

In Apartment 207 there’s no blind on the bedroom window, so people can see us sleeping and the heat is unbearable. I contacted the owner, but nobody came to fix it. My husband ended up taping bin bags over the window to block some light so we could sleep and get a little privacy. Very poor customer service.
