Travelodge Hexham

A great stopover for onward travel the next day. There’s free parking, plus untethered EV charging in the car park at a not-too-bad rate per kW. The bar cafe has a tasty range of meals and snacks, the rooms were clean, and it’s next door to McDonald's. Staff were pleasant. We did see police attending to a guest who had issues, but that could happen anywhere, and the guest was escorted away without any disturbance.

There were plenty of parking spaces, and free parking matters to us when choosing a Travelodge. Our room on the third floor had a great view of Hexham and was quiet, clean and roomy. It had air conditioning and heating, a kettle with complimentary tea, sugar and coffee sachets, mugs and two comfy chairs. The bathroom was clean, the shower was nice, and there was ample toilet roll for our two-night stay. I do prefer windows that open so I can hear the rain and feel a natural breeze, but these windows didn’t open at all. Even so, we had a lovely stay.

The rooms were clean, and there’s ample free parking. The hotel is fairly new and well located for town, though it’s next to the railway line. We had no other problems, but there was an issue with the key cards during our stay, so a staff member had to let us into the room or hotel every time we wanted to leave.

Travelodge gives you what you expect, without too many frills, though prices are going up. The location is good, there’s plenty of free parking, and it was clean and tidy with a modern bathroom. The rooms have AC, but there’s no way to let fresh air in.
