The huge place worked well for our holiday with eight adults, though it’s a bit of a maze. There were plenty of bedroom options, and the kitchen had more cupboard and counter space than anywhere we’ve stayed before, perfect for our foodie family. The dining table and lounge could comfortably seat everyone. The owner lives next door and was on hand when we needed help. I only had to call him once to turn up the hot water temperature. A folder full of walks and activities kept us busy all week. We had a great holiday and would definitely recommend it for large groups.

We rented the cottage along with the main house, which made a great setup for our large get together. Everyone could eat around the big dining table, and the converted barn was ideal for music and dancing. There was a water pressure issue while we were there, so the most shared bathroom had no working shower. That’s why I’ve given it four stars this time.

Most of us who used the hot tub came out in spots and felt unwell within days, 7 of the 9 users. That made me worry it was unclean or the pH was off. The owner said it’s drained between guests and balanced properly, but that didn’t reassure us. Be careful with the tub. The stay itself was nice, though a bit expensive for the quality. Wheelbarrow Castle is a lovely old place with some great features. The large room could use newer sofas, beds and dining chairs, and another TV would have helped.

We had a really comfortable stay in a clean, well equipped cottage, and the welcome pack was generous, even including a bottle of wine. The owner was friendly and welcoming, and we’d definitely come back. It’s peaceful there, with an enclosed garden for our dog, while Leominster town centre is only 10 minutes away. Thank you.

I haven’t stayed there myself, as I live nearby, but I know people who have. It sounds like a nice place to relax, with good views towards Wales and plenty of walking and cycling routes. Leominster is a pleasant market town nearby. The location is quiet, the place is well maintained, and there’s a large car park. Give me a wave if you spot me out cycling!
