What stands out most is how the staff looked after us when I had a medical emergency. At around 04.00 one night, during our stay of more than two weeks, I went downstairs to ask for an ambulance. The staff on duty acted professionally, reassured me, and quickly helped me get emergency medical care. When I returned a few hours later, staff on each shift kept checking in while I recovered over the next couple of days. Their concern for my wife and me eased the worry of being 5000 miles from home. We remain very grateful. The staff felt like family. The Trafalgar St. James also worked perfectly for our seventh visit to London, our first in 25 years. Our travel agent suggested it because we wanted to be central and close to the places we planned to see. It’s beside Trafalgar Square, with a pub next door, the Mall two minutes away, Charing Cross Station five minutes on foot, and Piccadilly Circus and Whitehall within walking distance. We happened to be there during Trooping the Colour season. It’s a beautiful hotel with clean, comfortable, well-kept rooms, excellent housekeeping and service, a very good concierge, a fitness room, a nice restaurant with a breakfast bar we loved, and a small bar. The rooftop bar was closed for renovation during our stay. London could keep you exploring its history, art, and culture for months. If you want a welcoming central hotel near many places to visit, consider the Trafalgar St. James. The people there make it feel like a home away from home.
The basement room was the one disappointment. We paid a high price, and it had no window, which would be dreadful for anyone with allergies. The hotel website and booking platforms should make the basement location and lack of a window much more obvious. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have booked it. Apart from that, the room was luxurious, comfortable, complete, and very well equipped. The location is unbeatable, close to everything, and the service was friendly and welcoming, especially Raissa (restaurant) and Mana (reception).
We were there to celebrate a 60th birthday and the welcome made it feel special from the start. Nafia at reception was especially helpful, and the team had left a lovely card and a bottle of champagne in our room. Such a sweet surprise. Thank you all 😊
The breakfast stood out: a great spread, with attentive, efficient staff. The service was strong throughout, and the Trafalgar King Room was comfortable, modern, and well kept, with a very good bed and up-to-date tech. A couple of details felt out of step with a five-star stay. There were only two complimentary bottles of water per day, which was a little disappointing and unlike my experience at other Hilton hotels. I was also charged for a two-minute domestic UK call from the room without a clear warning. At checkout, the receptionist couldn’t give me a rate card for the call, which seemed unprepared.
Fred and Victoria made the reception feel welcoming every time. They were professional, upbeat, and genuinely helpful, and I felt looked after. Their care for guests reflects the Hilton spirit so well. I can see them becoming Hilton Ambassadors one day. Thank you both for your kindness and hard work. Nazila Room 327
