DoubleTree by Hilton London West End

Jamal and Shahid really made the stay for me. Jamal took the time to find a room that suited what I needed and let me see it first. At checkout, Shahid patiently explained the policies and made sure everything was sorted. They were both warm and flexible. The room and hotel were comfortable and high quality too. I had a great stay at DoubleTree by Hilton - West End, and would happily recommend it.

We stayed six nights in room 505. The welcome at check-in was lovely, and the staff were kind and attentive throughout. The room, though, was missing some useful basics: there were no drawers, no bathroom outlets, and nowhere to put toothbrushes or toothpaste. The hot tub taps seemed old and were confusing to use, so instructions would have helped. The drain cover was dirty inside, which was disappointing. With these gaps in the room, we were surprised the hotel is rated four stars. The service was excellent, but the room facilities need some attention.

We ate at the ground-floor restaurant twice and both meals were very good. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were a reasonable size, neither cramped nor especially large. The accessible rooms are really small, though. We were in London for a medical conference at the Excel Center, and getting there from the hotel was quite manageable. A good option for a few days in London.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we slept well. As a gold member I was given an upgraded room, and the service was nice. The bathroom had a good amount of space, but the shower was awful, and I sometimes couldn't figure out the lights. The location depends on what kind of stay you're after. It's near transport, sights, and restaurants, but when I'm back in London I'll stay in Kensington. I'd pay a little more per night for a better hotel.
