Hostel Ordnance

The three other people in my four-person room were older permanent residents, rude and snoring constantly. The room itself was horrible, with a mattress so old I could feel every spring. The kitchen was dirty, and the shared toilets were even dirtier. The staff were just okay. They weren't rude, but don't expect them to be especially nice. Save yourself a headache and stay somewhere else. You don't want this place ruining your holiday.

The location was rough too: next to a market, with the sound of metal pipes being used to build stalls every morning. I don't recommend this place to anyone. It should be closed. The rooms were dirty, and I felt disgusted just lying on the bed. After the first night I bought my own sheet. When I wanted to change accommodation, the person in charge said they don't refund early checkouts, which I don't think is fair. The bathroom was in terrible shape, with dirt and mud on the floor, no toilet seat covers, no toilet paper, and some showers without shower heads. The service room staff were rude. When I arrived, they were arguing over who should clean my room. My friend and I decided to check out a day early because our plans changed. At 4pm, hotel service made a fuss that we should have done it before 11am, even though our checkout was supposed to be the following day.

This old building still needs a lot of renovation, and the hostel isn't quite ready for a holiday stay. The owner is a very nice man, though, and I'm sure the place will improve over time. Good luck! Best regards, Janet from Holland.

We used this place last year for a university group visiting from Glasgow, and we're booking again this year. It's very cheap, clean, with friendly staff and a nice big communal kitchen. There's a massive 24-hour Tesco around the corner, and the train station is literally across the street. The rooms are basic and a little tight, not Travelodge standard, but at this price they're excellent value.
