My Place Hotel

The location was the one real plus, since it's easy to get around from here. The rest of our quick London weekend stay was awful. The windows were falling apart or stuck, the toilet barely flushed, tap water pressure was almost nonexistent, and the radiator rattled the whole time. Furniture was coming apart too, and the walls were so thin we heard everything. Breakfast had a ridiculously short serving window, no cheese or meat, and only bad instant coffee. I paid extra for the English breakfast, which was the worst food I'd had in ages. I couldn't even identify the sausage meat. The photos looked good when we booked, but I can't recommend the service, room, or breakfast.

The room was old, and it wasn't ready at 2pm, though they got it sorted within 15 minutes. Even so, after reading lots of reviews, I found the place wasn't as bad as people said. It was the cheapest option for us in a great spot right by the Underground, and I liked staying here. The service was friendly and it was quiet at night. I'd stay again.

Earls Court is lovely for walking around, and the location is spectacular. The continental breakfast was good, the room was very clean, everything worked properly, and the staff were incredibly nice and respectful. I had worried after reading the negative comments, but that wasn't my experience at all. It's a three-star hotel and, in my experience, it met what you'd expect for that category. You get what you pay for, simple as that. I'm glad I chose My Place, and grateful to the staff and owners.

If you're mostly out seeing the tourist areas and need somewhere cheap to sleep, this worked well, almost in Central London. The room was tiny and the building old, but it was clean and had a mini fridge. I stayed from 6 to 9 October. Breakfast was a bit odd: toast and ingredients for marmalade sandwiches, plus cereal. No proper bread, cold cuts, vegetables, rolls, or cheese. You can ask for a full English, but I never saw anyone in the kitchen, so I ate breakfast elsewhere. The carpet was amazing, thick and soft, unlike anything I'd seen before. There was hot water morning and evening, very hot indeed, so be careful. The toilet was confusing, or maybe I just didn't know you had to push the lever several times to make it flush. The rooms are small and the place is old, so don't be fooled by bad reviews. My stay was much better, and I work in a Swiss hotel, so I can be picky about my stars. :)
