Rooms at 5 Hammersmith Road - Hostel

We left at 11 PM and booked into St Paul's hotel down the road. It cost twice as much, but it was worth it. We didn’t get a refund. What a hellhole, definitely not a hotel, more like bedsits for immigrants. Zero out of ten. The place was too dirty to stay in. Six immigrants were in the room next door, cooking on a stove. The bath wouldn’t drain because it was full of black hair and scum, and there was no window or extractor, so I couldn’t clean it. Management’s attitude was atrocious. They offered another place to bathe, but we walked in on two families living there. Don’t stay here.

We couldn’t check in because no one had given us any information, and we couldn’t reach anyone when we arrived, so we ended up at a different hotel. The shared bathrooms were disgusting, with mold in the shower. There were piles of trash in the halls, and we heard from other guests, who were leaving early, that they had to climb over smelly bags just to get to their rooms. Not kidding. The place is a risk to people’s health, with no security standards or fire protection systems whatsoever. The entrance door had been broken before and “fixed” with duct tape. The keys are in a PIN pad that was basically unlocked when we arrived, so anyone could get in. It isn’t safe. Do not book this. I’d give zero stars if I could.

The room I was given was clean, tidy and quiet, and the bloke who showed me in was very friendly. I can’t fault the room itself, but I won’t book again. You get what you pay for. It took well over an hour to find the place. I called for directions but got no help, and I was disappointed by the outside of the building when I finally found it. Then I had to call the number on my booking and wait nearly 20 minutes to get inside. I had to climb four flights of stairs before being shown into a three-bedroom flat. The bathroom was filthy.

This was the worst accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. We left after the first night because the hygiene was unacceptable. The sheets and towels were dirty, there was hair all over the bed, and the bed frame and nightstand were dusty. There was no toilet paper, and the bathroom was dirty too. The staff were extremely unprofessional. They never answered the phone or our emails, and claimed they hadn’t received any email.
