Victoria by Q Apt 15, Reading It’s sad to say, but this hotel wasn’t efficient at all. The trouble started with the apartment access code. Luckily, we were due to arrive the day after booking, but imagine discovering at the airport that you can’t get into your room. I called customer service from the airport and waited ten minutes through hold music before an agent told me, “But we sent you an email.” That was just the first part of a disastrous stay, which was especially disappointing since we’d stayed in the same room, with the same number, a year earlier and it had been great. When we arrived, the bathroom floor was filthy, there was hair in the shower, on the floor and in the sink, and worst of all, in the bed. The bedclothes smelled like someone else’s body odour. My husband and I were exhausted from travelling, so we slept on the couch and left it to deal with later. In the morning, we found the advertised Cafe Dulce Machine and its Nescafe cups were nowhere to be seen, not in the cupboards or under the sink. No coffee when you’re tired from travelling, my weary, bleary friend. How do you deal with that? I called Guest Services and waited 15 minutes through pop music before someone answered. They apologized and said someone would bring the coffee maker on Monday and come clean the place on Wednesday. I made the call on a Sunday.
