We stopped in for a drink and a bite to eat on 7th March, and it was full marks all round. The staff were lovely and chatty, and fussed over our dog Jack. The pub grub was top quality. I had a chilli burger and my partner had the gammon. Excellent value for money too.

There were nine of us, and Lucy and the staff made everything easy. The homemade food was piping hot, beautifully presented and generous, and every dish was absolutely amazing. We’d happily recommend eating here and will definitely be back. Great job, everyone.

Our wedding reception went brilliantly, thanks to Lucy and her team. From our first meeting, she took care of everything, including the food and entertainment, and the room looked beautiful. Staff were attentive throughout the afternoon and evening. We had all the accommodation booked for two nights, and the rooms and pods were clean and comfortable. Breakfast each morning was amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better place or service for our special day. Thank you, Lucy and everyone.

We had a lovely Mother’s Day meal with the family. There were 13 of us, and everyone’s food and desserts were delicious, hot and plentiful. The staff were friendly, polite and happy to help. The dining room has lovely river views, too. Highly recommend.

The location is pretty when the tide is in, and the pods look nice from outside. Inside ours, though, the drain smell was so overpowering it felt like you could taste it. Air fresheners, including plug-in ones, were dotted around, so it seemed this was already known. We had to leave the only window and the entrance door open the whole time, even overnight. There was just one outdoor chair for a pod meant for two or four people, so only one of us could sit outside. The bedding was awful. We needed both the fixed bed and pull-out sofa bed, but found the linen in a heap underneath the sofa. The quilt and cover were stained and dirty, and the cover was ripped. All the pillows were stained, and there were no protectors on them or on the fixed bed mattress. The bathroom door had swollen from damp and wouldn’t close properly, so you couldn’t shut it when using the toilet. We didn’t try the shower because water could have spilled into the living and sleeping area. There were also lights without bulbs. The tiny sink was the only water source for the kettle, and it was so hard to fit the kettle under the tap that filling it was a struggle. We also had a terrible meal at the pub. We ordered Kentucky-style chicken with chips, gravy and salad. The chicken strips looked cremated and tasted disgusting. The gravy was lukewarm water with granules and herbs mixed in, and the salad was slimy, with red leaves, cucumber, tinned sweetcorn and peas, and a little chopped red pepper. My son swallowed a bite, but I had to spit mine into a napkin. We asked the owner to try it; he declined, took the food away, then went to tell the woman owner we didn’t like it and were complaining. She eventually came over, said there was nothing wrong with the food, and offered something else from the menu. We asked for a refund instead. We saw two other people with the same meal, and the woman with the man was picking at hers and seemed upset too. We didn’t want anything else and left the pub. We ate out in Morecombe instead. After the owners treated us as if we were exaggerating about how burnt and nasty the food was, we didn’t want to pay £24 for breakfast either. We left early after sleeping with the pod door and window wide open all night, had a coffee outside, then set off on the nine-hour journey home.
