The Victoria Hotel Manchester by Compass Hospitality

The room was clean, the toilet spotless, breakfast had a good range, and the beds were comfortable. I slept well the first night. But the next day, the music was so loud that our room shook, and I ended up with a massive headache. There was a wedding on when we arrived, which was fine in itself, but drunk people kept going up and down the stairs. Also, people were smoking right outside the entrance every time I walked in, so I had to pass through their fumes. Overall, the stay was very good apart from those issues.

We had Christmas Day dinner and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. There were no fixed times, so you could eat when you were ready, though that meant a bit of patience was needed. The food and service were excellent, and the prices at the bar weren't massively high like at some hotels, even if the tiny bar could take a while to serve you. Our table was long and narrow, with more than 20 of us sitting quite far apart, which felt a little impersonal. I suppose they couldn't do much about it, though two round tables might have worked better. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

The staff made the wedding run smoothly and were friendly and helpful to everyone. I'd stayed at the Victory Hotel with my family too, and we had a great time. Our rooms were lovely and spacious, the staff were polite and easy to talk to, and the food was spectacular. I'd highly recommend staying and eating here.

For my daughter's baby shower, I booked afternoon tea for 16. The girls had the table ready and helped us add our own decorations when we got there. Olivia kept the hot water topped up and made sure no one was left waiting too long at the bar.
