We had a delicious evening meal, and it was definitely good value. The rooms were lovely and clean, with modern decor that still suited the house. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We booked one night with breakfast at Roundthorn country house in February 2026, and intend to return. We'd happily recommend staying here.

We stopped in for lunch and were warmly welcomed, then given a window table. There was a good range of appealing choices on the fairly extensive lunch menu. The setting is lovely, the service was quick, and lunch was delicious.

The rooms were lovely, and the whole place felt like a big family house for our friends and family over the weekend. The apartments about 50yrds to the left of the venue were another level of classy, though they need a 2night stay minimum. We had our wedding here and couldn't be happier. The kind, helpful staff made everything friendly from start to finish, and the food wowed us and all our guests. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

I stayed at Roundthorne on the 1st of February and was still thinking about it afterwards. It's in a peaceful spot with beautiful panoramic views, and the main house feels classic despite its modern, clean renovation. We'd booked a room but paid an extra £25 to move to an apartment across the car park, which was worth it. It was spacious, with a kitchen, living room, garden and a huge comfortable bed, plus a nice en suite toilet. My only small gripe was that there was no bath. The apartment would work well for a stay of a few days. The staff were lovely from check-in to check-out and made us feel at home. We took a short taxi into Penrith for drinks and dinner, then enjoyed an outstanding breakfast at Roundthorne the next morning, with lovely ingredients and a continental breakfast area too. Thanks for a great time, AP x

Even on a rainy day the views were good. The food and customer service were exceptional, and I'll definitely come back.
