Travelodge Peterborough Central

For a short, budget stay I’d use Travelodge Peterborough Central again. The location makes it good value, and the stay was about what I’d expect from a two-star hotel. Check-in was straightforward and my room was clean, with a comfortable bed. It’s fairly no-frills, and some things felt a bit tired. I noticed some noise at times, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs.

My sister came from Mansfield, and we found each other again after 53 years, following Mum’s passing. We both have health issues, so it was really convenient to have the Turkish’s kitchen just down the side. It was very, very good for us. She stayed at the Travelodge, which was quite reasonable and conveniently placed near the town centre and not far from the rest of us. She just needed somewhere to sleep. It was lovely and clean inside, and I was surprised by how nice it was. You couldn’t have people always on site, and there wasn’t food on offer, though you could get breakfast in the morning. People might hear “just the Travelodge” and have an idea of what that means, but I thought it was lovely. The Turkish’s kitchen nearby was very convenient for both of us.

There aren’t any car parking facilities on site. The Travelodge site recommended Wellington long stay car park, which we used, and it was an easy 3-5 minute walk from the lodge. Booking online was straightforward. Our room was clean and tidy with good facilities, and the town centre was an even shorter walk away.

We chose it for the city centre and the price, but I wouldn't book it again. The room was fairly clean, though shelves were thick with dust and had two empty beer bottles and a toilet roll left on top, so it didn't look properly checked. From check-in, there was a steady rumbling overhead, despite being on the top floor. It was still going eight hours later and kept me awake. Staff said they were full and couldn't move us, then left us in the room. The dust could be a problem for anyone with breathing issues.
