We’ve stayed at The Ellerby more than three times and have also been in for lunch several times. The welcome starts as soon as you walk through the door, and the team are among the friendliest I’ve met. They’re attentive without missing a thing, and other places could learn a lot from their customer care. The rooms are spotless, cosy and really comfortable. Breakfast has a great range of dishes, all consistently delicious. There are plenty of tasty vegetarian choices too. On our latest visit, we had the Christmas lunch menu, which was fantastic and, for me, the best Christmas dinner I’ve had. My companion agreed. Even the cider on tap was probably the nicest pint I’ve tasted. Whether you’re staying the night or just stopping in for lunch, I can’t recommend The Ellerby enough. A definite 5/5.

The lunch was amazing, especially the chips, and everyone was so friendly and helpful with our dog Frodo too. It was our first time stopping at this beautiful place. Even though they were busy, they found us a table near the fire, which was much appreciated after a snowy moorland walk. We’ll definitely come back when we’re in the area again. 100% recommend.

We had a fantastic three-night stay with our three dogs. The hotel and pub/restaurant were very dog friendly, and all the staff were brilliant and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, the bed was massive, and the shower was amazing. The food was great too. Thanks for a lovely stay, we’ll be back next time we’re in the area.

There were ten of us for Sunday dinner while we were staying nearby. Some ordered Sunday lunch and others chose from the regular menu. The service was great, and everything was delicious and plentiful. We were stuffed! We’d definitely recommend eating at The Ellerby.

The place is such a little gem that I almost want to keep it to myself! I’ve stayed at the country inn twice and hope to come again. The staff are so friendly, the food is outstanding, and the rooms are clean and fresh. We’ve booked again in case no rooms are available later. It’s dog friendly too, and they loved my dog. Thanks for looking after my family, Annette and Brian Page, and Dougie. We’ll see you again soon. Give this lovely country inn a try, you’ll want to come back.
