Pinewood Guest House

The hosts were really friendly and helpful, and the quiet area felt very safe for me travelling alone. The location in this lovely part of Whitby was superb. My room was immaculate and well equipped with a fridge, TV, hairdryer and kettle. Breakfast was lovely, and they adjusted it for my diet.

Breakfast came with several meal choices, including kippers, plus yoghurt and bowls of lovely fresh fruit. The staff were very nice too. The room and guest house were immaculately clean, with lots of towels, a comfortable bed and very nice decor. There was a good supply of drinks and a small fridge. I’ll definitely return.

The breakfast room was spotless, the white dishes squeaky clean, and breakfast was plentiful and really good. The bacon was the thickest I’ve ever had, and they served three perfect poached eggs. I also liked that the staff were pleasant without being too familiar. The room was clean and a good size, with the useful extras you hope for, like a kettle, tea, coffee, hairdryer and electric fan. The shower room was a good size, though I think a patch of mould could do with bleaching. After a miserable, run-down B+B nearby last year, I wasn’t expecting to find somewhere decent without paying a fortune. The reviews persuaded us to try this one, and as soon as we arrived, I knew we’d chosen well. The outside looks fresh and cared for, and it’s clear money has gone into making the stay comfortable. Fresh flowers and plants brighten the place, especially the lovely breakfast room, and there’s even a bowl of chocolates in the entrance hall. As you leave and look left, there’s a great view of the abbey. The other places along the terrace also look well looked after, and it doesn’t feel like a neglected part of Whitby. Cook’s monument is a short walk away, with probably the best views in town. We’d absolutely stay here again.

The location was handy, in a quiet area but only about ten minutes on foot from the centre. Cleanliness, hospitality and food were all outstanding. We’ve just come back from three nights at this B+B, and I’d have no hesitation booking it again if I return to Whitby. It was such an enjoyable stay.
