Eight at The Bakery B&B Tatsfield

Sheila rocks! Our taxi never turned up, and we were close to missing our flight, but she stepped in straight away and drove us to the airport herself. Thanks to her, we got there on time. We had a great experience at Bakery Hotel.

We arrived by bike from London in full Lycra and had worried the place might be too posh for us. They made us very welcome, and the service was excellent. The full Sunday roast was a lovely surprise, though they can do coffee and cake if you’re short on time or appetite. I’ll definitely go again, if I can face cycling up those hills.

We chose it for its proximity to our wedding venue, 'The Barn' at Botley Hill. We turned up at the last minute, but check-in was friendly and efficient. The rooms are smart, quiet and comfortable, with tea, coffee and a few biscuits provided. Breakfast was really good, the coffee was good too, and they catered for gluten-free guests as well as vegetarian and vegan diets. Tatsfield is pleasant enough, though not especially remarkable.

We were stopping over on the way back from France, visiting family and Chartwell. The Old Bakery is in a super location near the amazing Chartwell, and the room and bathroom were lovely, with attention to every detail. The staff were lovely young people, and breakfast was great. It was quite pricey, but the quality was faultless. The linens deserve a special mention, always a winner for me! The only small concern was noise from the side garden late at night, possibly staff after hours, though we were up late anyway.
