Sir Nigel Gresley @ Engine Shed

There’s plenty to see and it’s fairly easy to get to most of it, so it’s well worth visiting. Just be aware there are some stairs up to the shop.

Watching my husband’s face when the first steam train arrived is a memory I’ll keep. We felt lucky to stay in Repton, a beautiful apartment in the distinctive Engine Shed, thoughtfully restored to a high standard and filled with a sense of history. It was spotless, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. Being so close to Network Rail and the North Yorkshire Moors Heritage Railway lines was an extra treat, and the secure underground parking was a brilliant bonus. Thanks to the owners of The Engine Shed and Ash for looking after us so well. Whitby and the moors make for lovely exploring, and the renovation helped make this a wonderful holiday. We’d gladly return and highly recommend The Engine Shed. ❤️

We picked the Engine Shed because our little boy loves trains, and watching them from the windows was fun. Still, you don’t need to be a train fan to enjoy this lovely apartment in a great part of Whitby. We spent a week in the Sir Nigel Gresley apartment, one of the nicest holiday apartments we’ve stayed in. It was spotless on arrival, finished to a very high standard and had everything we needed. The housekeeping team were excellent and friendly, and the secure garage was a welcome extra.

The historic building gives the place a great atmosphere. We loved it: a great location and super clean. 5*
