Hotel Zerta Old Tbilisi

We slept well here: the neighborhood is quiet, the beds are comfortable, and the air conditioning worked great. The hotel is in the heart of Tbilisi, within walking distance of many sights. Rooms were all clean, with their own decorations and interior design, and the staff were professional, respectful, and friendly. The breakfast buffet is in the building next door and was very good. They kindly let us check out late. There’s an electric kettle, hairdryer, and mini fridge in the room. The only small hassle was the steep path up to the entrance, though it wasn’t too difficult. I’d recommend it if you want to explore Tbilisi.

The umbrellas in the lobby were a huge help during our stay. Breakfast is at another hotel around the corner and down the street, and it starts later than you might expect. There’s a good shower, hot water, a refrigerator, bottled water, a TV, and the other basics, but the furniture doesn’t all match, even if they’ve tried to make the rooms feel coherent. Room size and décor vary a lot. I had a lovely sitting area, while other travelers had much smaller rooms. Some staff were terrific, others just adequate. Hotel Zerta could use a shared space and a computer for guests. If you want a u s or european chain hotel experience, this isn’t it. If funky creativity suits you, you may enjoy it.

The rooms are gorgeous, newly designed by different artists, and the breakfast was delicious. Service was five-star, with special thanks to hotel manager Meka and Mariami at the reception. We had a great New Year’s Eve party and will be back. Anyone finding things to complain about here must have other problems in life.

The rooms look appealing thanks to the artwork, but the price left us expecting more comfort. There’s no lift, which makes the upper floors difficult with luggage. Most rooms don’t have balconies, and with just a window and dark colours, ours felt claustrophobic. The bathrooms were cramped, damp, poorly ventilated, and smelled bad. Parking was either unavailable or impractical, so it offered little help. The hotel has no kitchen, and breakfast, even when included, means going to a nearby restaurant. There’s no room service, inconvenient for families with children or older guests. It starts after 8:30 AM, so early risers are left with poor choices. We were given whole tomatoes and cucumbers as a packed meal and had to return it. In the room, the air fresheners were broken, Lenin was never fresh, towels felt like scrubbers, soap dispensers were broken, and taps leaked. There were no vanity mirrors, and the bathroom mirror fogged up, making grooming awkward. The location is decent but far from ideal, and many other hotels offer better value. Hotel Zerta doesn’t feel qualified to be a hotel, more like a fancy hostel, and I wouldn’t recommend it for families. For the price, the experience falls short in many ways.
