The castle is beautiful, and the pool and sunroof are lovely too. I left early, pretty disappointed, because the staff made the stay such a letdown. The check-in guy was hostile, and around the pool, other guests were complaining about the pool attendant. He mostly sat there and rolled his eyes if someone asked for a drink. The staff seemed glued to their phones and gave me odd looks as I walked past. They made it feel like guests were a nuisance and they didn’t care about the hotel. The bellboy was kind, but seemed so out of breath carrying things and climbing the stairs that I started carrying my own stuff. There are quite a few stairs, though honestly they weren’t as bad as some reviews made out. I don’t mean that as an insult to him, but it was concerning. Most of the power outlets didn’t work, and the shower took nearly five minutes to warm up. An Aperol spritz with barely any alcohol cost 50 gel, which felt like daylight robbery. It’s a shame, because the place has so much potential if the right people were in charge.

A real castle hotel built into a mountain, right in the middle of the old town with its centuries-old buildings and churches. It’s a unique place, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and furnished in an 18th-19th-century style. Just be ready for stairs to get up to the hotel.

We got there around 11:30 PM and couldn’t find the main entrance. A clear sign or marker at the gate would help guests arriving at night. Aside from that, this was an amazing stay. The castle’s unusual spaces and atmosphere kept impressing us, and it was clean and peaceful, with wonderful staff and a warm, delicious breakfast. My wife and I are architects with our own design studio in Dubai, so we were especially interested in the architecture and interiors. I’m still here and already had to leave a good review. This is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The views are spectacular, the location is unbeatable, and the staff have been incredibly welcoming and helpful. The building has loads of character, and you can tell every detail has been carefully looked after.

The listing promised a fairy-tale setting, but getting here was exhausting and impractical. You can’t get close to the property by car. The nearest drop-off is about 300 meters away, then there’s a steep uphill walk and roughly 100 meters of outdoor stairs to reach the entrance. After a week of skiing, that was completely unmanageable. None of this was made clear at booking. We chose not to stay because of the access, and shouldn’t have had to make that decision if the listing had been honest. The property acknowledged the description was misleading, but still refused to refund us. Offering a bellboy missed the point, since they can’t carry a person up 100 meters of steep stairs. Accessibility can’t be fixed with a token gesture. Customer service was dismissive and unhelpful. There was no accountability or resolution, just excuses. The location may sound charming, but unless you like arriving out of breath every time, this isn’t a place to stay. The experience felt more like a Grimm Brothers ending. I stand by this review, and I’m not a one-time reviewer. Read the property’s responses, they don’t actually address what I wrote. #booking.com to avoid.
