Fava Eco Suites

The staff were dismissive and unhelpful. They showed me a few other options, but none matched the standard of what I’d seen while booking, and they seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns. Expedia/Hotels.com photos are misleading and don’t show what the property is really like. After the stay, I saw many reviews mentioning similar problems, so I’m clearly not the only one. I booked Fava Eco Suites at a high price specifically for the advertised jacuzzi and amenities, but the jacuzzi in my room didn’t work. I had to intrude on my friends’ privacy so my child could use the one in their room. The suite view was nothing like the online listing. If you’re booking several rooms for a group, some suites aren’t even on the main premises, so you may be split up. Quality also varies a lot, with some rooms getting the best views and others having very substandard ones. This was one of my worst hotel experiences, and I wouldn’t recommend Fava Eco Suites, given the misleading listings, inconsistent rooms, and poor service. In response to the hotel’s comments, I’ll say only this: “Pictures speaks for itself. And I will leave it for readers judgement as there are bunch of similar experience reviews down here.”

The view was beautiful, and breakfast was varied and very good. The hotel does what it’s meant to, but it’s about a 30-minute walk from the center of Oia, so it isn’t the most central choice if you want to stay there. Getting to the hotel from Finikia’s first bus stop isn’t easy. It’s better to get off at the next stop, where the road is easier. For large groups, rooms are spread around the area and may not be close together, which can be a drawback.

The photos online made the place look much better than it was. Our bathroom was old and very dirty, and the hot tub had dead bugs in it. It wouldn't hold the temperature we selected, and our children felt an electric shock when they got in. We pulled them out right away and called the front desk manager, but he never came to check it. The AC was only in the living room, so the bedroom got rather hot at night. Getting there was awkward too. Uber wouldn't come, and with luggage we had to walk about 300 meters downhill over steps to reach our room. Service was poor throughout our three days. The housekeeper didn't clean the bathroom or floor, replace the coffee, or refill the toilet paper, and there weren't enough towels for everyone each day. The one bright spot was the porter bringing breakfast to the room on time. The scrambled eggs were cold by then, but we were okay with that. We were disappointed across the board and wouldn't recommend this hotel for its service, cleanliness, or location.

The view is gorgeous, and being in a smaller village gives the place a private feel. The room itself has a lovely cave-like character. The bathroom gets very damp, though, which is why I can't give it five stars. The hairdryer in the room is poor, but they can provide a working one if you ask. Breakfast could improve too: you make your own coffee, and the powder isn't very good.
