The view was absolutely beautiful, but the service and amenities felt more like a solid 3.5-star hotel than the advertised five stars. We’d stayed at other five-star hotels in Mykonos for the same price and got better service. At lunch, I ordered a Caesar salad with Parmesan and found mold on the cheese. The kitchen said that was normal and just part of the salad. Parmesan shouldn’t have mold on it. Also, when I tried to leave for my 6:30 AM flight, the front gate was shut and nobody was at the desk to open it.

We stayed at the Lilium and really enjoyed it. From the hotel, the Caldera view is phenomenal, and at night we could see fireworks put on by nearby businesses. Our room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and all the equipment we needed. Service was excellent, friendly, and welcoming. The front desk helped us get a taxi even when we were somewhere else. The taxi wasn’t part of the hotel, so we paid for it ourselves. Food at the restaurant was delicious, the cocktails were well made, and I looked forward to breakfast each morning. There was lots of choice, all fresh and nicely presented. It’s within walking distance of a beautiful winery with another fabulous view and excellent wine tasting and food. We liked that the location wasn’t as crowded as Oia. We could visit the busier places and then come back somewhere peaceful. Lilium is adults-only, which we also enjoyed. It was sad to leave Santorini and our stay there.

Avoid this hotel. We found it on Booking and went in to ask whether they had a discount. A male receptionist offered us a 45m² room for a little more than the basic room price, and we paid straight away. Instead, we got the smallest basic room shown on their website and paid 100€ more than other guests. When we challenged him, he denied the whole thing and was rude. The female owner came out and said it was her family’s hotel, but wouldn’t accept that anything had gone wrong. She got angry, apparently to cover the lies, and told us to “stay or leave, she doesn’t care.” We felt the hotel was dishonest with guests and discriminated against foreign visitors.

The place was comfortable, and the views were fantastic. The food was more than decent, and the house wine was good. Some rooms are private, while others are right beside the shared pool, so be sure you get the setup you want. The hotel shuttle could run more often. Walking to Fira town takes about 15-20 minutes.
