Gorgona Villas

The team at Gorgona Villas made Santorini feel like a safe and welcoming place to stay. They answered my questions quickly even before we arrived on the island, and were easy to reach by phone when we needed help with parking or taxis. I’ve never experienced hospitality like that, and the staff deserve real credit. We spent seven nights here, close to a bus stop, grocery stores, and restaurants. Our room was comfortable, clean, and convenient, with an outstanding caldera view right in front of us. Breakfast was always served with a smile on our balcony and never disappointed. Housekeeping did a fantastic job, and the clean pool was great for a dip. We had such a warm and enjoyable stay.

The balcony views are gorgeous, the villa is very clean, and the room is large, spacious, and full of luxury. It’s centrally located and an outstanding place. Just be ready for the luggage struggle: the nearest parking is a bit far, with a very steep uphill walk, and there are many steps from the entrance to the villa. It’s extremely difficult with heavy bags, and there’s no porter to help. There’s no in-room intercom to call reception and no food-heating equipment. Customer service was absent. I’d still go for it, but keep the difficult luggage access in mind.

Imerovigli made a great base for us, much quieter and more authentic than crowded Fira or Oia. The location is peaceful, with the village center, bus station, restaurants, and supermarkets just a short 2-4 minute walk away. The views from the rooms are breathtaking. There are plenty of sunbeds and places to sit, either on private balconies or in shared areas. The pool is tiny, but fine for a quick dip. The rooms, though, are extremely small and basic. Our “double superior” didn’t feel superior at all, some areas weren’t cleaned properly, and the furniture and facilities were old and underwhelming.

The place needs a refresh. For this price I expected it to be spotless, but it wasn’t, and the bathroom appliances were old. The air conditioning sounded like a plane taking off, though I’m exaggerating a little. Staff were very nice, but we got barely any information when we arrived, no suggestions for places to eat or see, and it was unclear which pool we could use. Breakfast did the job, but wasn’t great. At this room price, I expected fresh orange juice instead of the industrial kind. The view and location are amazing, but we weren’t big fans overall.
