Our family stayed here on the last leg of our Santorini holiday, just a few days ago. The property can be booked through sites like booking.com and hotels.com. I think some Google reviews from a year or so earlier might no longer reflect the place. Olga was the person we interacted with most, and it felt as if she was running everything herself. Maybe she had help, or maybe it was because it was off-season, but she was handling reception, cleaning, and breakfast. It takes a lot of work to do all that and turn the property around from what it may have been when those bad reviews appeared a year or two ago. Our room felt warm and welcoming. The beds were comfortable, it was clean, and the A/C worked. There was a jet tub overlooking the coastline, and the balcony had an amazing sunrise view. Breakfast included breads, cheese, cold cuts, Greek yogurt, honey, coffee, and juice. That seemed to be the going rate for hotel breakfast menus in the area. The interior was amazing, but the exterior didn't match. Outside looked a bit run down and incognito, and needs a lot of work. Still, I think with enough time, customers, and revenue, the place could spring back up and live up to its name.

That caldera view from the jacuzzi is the kind you could sit and stare at all morning. At La Maltese Oia, breakfast came to our room in a basket each day, so we could eat it on the balcony in the sun. The room was roomy and clean, with a double shower in the main room, and there’s a pool out back too. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It felt like a dream, and I’d definitely stay again. 10/10 ❤️

Vicky made our five nights at La Maltese the best hotel experience I’ve had. She was welcoming, hardworking, and there whenever we had a question or request. She adjusted to what we needed, and even made sure we had breakfast when we checked out at 5:15 a.m., getting us out on time. The breakfasts she served each morning were delicious. The setting is beautiful, and after nearly two months traveling around Europe and staying in plenty of hotels and suites, this was far and away my favorite. I highly recommend getting a room with a view.

Oia’s central location is the one thing this hotel has going for it. The room looked like a prison cell, with dirt, insects, and mold, despite being described to us as freshly painted and cleaned before we arrived. The online photos give a very misleading impression, and I can’t see how this place deserves its five-star rating. The manager was pleasant, but showed up in sweatpants, a white T-shirt, and flip-flops. I wouldn’t stay here even if I were paid to, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

We booked well ahead, but when we arrived they said our room’s door was broken and the replacement part was coming from Germany. Lydia at reception seemed unconcerned and sent us to two different hotels instead. She said a taxi would arrive in five minutes, but we waited an hour and it still didn’t seem to be coming. When one finally showed up, we were taken outside Oia to a place she called an upgrade. There was no Caldera view, no view at all, and the room wasn’t finished. I called La Maltese and another woman told me that, for what we’d paid, this was an upgrade too. It was a dump, nowhere near what we’d booked, and not in the location we expected. I can only assume they sold our room for more and got rid of us without a second thought. Their customer service is terrible. We lost the dream vacation we’d planned, and La Maltese lost good customers. Lots of people were waiting to hear what I thought of the property. Thumbs down.
