The Museum Spa Wellness Hotel

The room was spacious and affordable for a place this central, and the staff were nice. The hotel is right on the main pedestrian walkway, close to the bus stop, which made getting around easy. There's a pool at the back, and the rooms have some basic cooking supplies.

We arrived late with transfers arranged. The local agent brought our bags and let us in, warning us that breakfast had stopped months earlier and hot water could take a while. The next morning there was no breakfast, even though the hotel had confirmed it was included. The room attendant checked our booking and put together what she could. She did that for the next two days as well, and we appreciated her effort. Management never commented. Hot water often didn't come until 5pm, if at all, so morning showers were cold. Rooms weren't made up until around 5pm each day. They smelled musty and had mold in many places, flaking paint, thin sheets and towels, and rust in the shower. At least the air conditioning worked. The pool was small and covered in green algae. We saw no sign of chemicals being added. One day an attendant swept out leaves and disturbed the algae, but it stayed suspended and settled back on the walls. It also seemed that outsiders could pay to use the pool. With limited chairs and loungers, paying visitors appeared to leave hotel guests without proper access, or any access at all. My wife and I stayed at six other hotels in Athens, Rhodes, Heraklion, and Chania, and this one fell far below what we expect from a Greek hotel. It felt unwelcoming and poorly managed, apart from one unsupported staff member. Best Western Museum Spa Wellness Hotel doesn't live up to the island's friendly, clean character. This was below backpacker standard and doesn't deserve even one star.

It's a simple, clean, affordable hotel, just a minute from Oia's best view. Getting up before sunrise and walking over in time to watch the sun rise behind the blue-domed churches was priceless.

The room was huge and cozy, and the price felt like good value. Some rooms have a view that's simply stunning.
