Blacksandy Beach Hotel

We wanted a small, friendly local hotel for a last-minute week by the black sand beach, and that’s what we found. It’s compact and well maintained, with quiet corners where you can read or get away from the pool and beach. The staff were welcoming and always available to help, though I’m sorry I’ve forgotten their names. The pool is small, clean and cosy, and the beach and coastal strip are about three minutes away. There are bars and tavernas in town too. Breakfast is basic but tasty and has what you need. Our room had a large balcony, shutters for blocking out the light, a safe and a TV with Greek channels. The room itself felt a bit small, and the unusual wall paintings weren’t really my taste. The bathroom was small too, but fine for a twin room, and the toiletries were good quality. It was cleaned immaculately each day, with fresh towels when needed. The kettle supplies were replenished daily, or you could pick up more at breakfast. The fridge, though, kept freezing things and leaking. For meals out, I’d read reviews and then check places out yourself. Some highly rated restaurants seemed to cater for volume, and some tavernas and beach bars can rip you off. The bus is cheap and easy to use for exploring the island. Since Santorini is volcanic, beach shoes are useful on the sand and in the sea. It’s an expensive resort by Greek standards, but still worth putting on your list. Thanks for a relaxing stay.
