Villa De Antaa O

There was nonstop drilling and hanging from construction next door all day. The hotel itself was okay, with small rooms and an okay breakfast, but we didn't feel welcome and wouldn't stay again. We arrived on our motorcycle 90 minutes before check-in, exhausted, and asked if we could park the bike and leave our bags until check-in. They wouldn't let us park before 3 p.m. The parking was two streets away and cost $9 a day. We waited on the pavement in front of the hotel until they agreed to let us come inside. After that, the staff seemed cold toward us. They came across as quite unhappy.

The patio was a peaceful favorite, with lush plants and hummingbirds around it. My room was cozy, clean, and well soundproofed, so it was quiet. Hot water was always available, and breakfast was delicious. Villa De Antaño is also well placed for exploring Antigua. The friendly, welcoming staff made me feel right at home. Internet was excellent and consistently strong, which mattered because I had several work calls. I highly recommend staying here and hope to return. Thanks to the whole hotel team for such impeccable service! ❣️

Construction next door made constant noise and ruined the atmosphere during our stay. We raised the issue with the owner, who was impolite and dismissive. After a long discussion, he reluctantly agreed we could leave after the first night, but by then everything else in Antigua was booked because it was the busy period from December 29 to January 1. With nowhere else to go, we had to stay. We paid 100 CHF per night, and no discount or compensation was offered. The owner's lack of empathy and customer service made an already terrible experience worse. I can't recommend this place.

Paul was incredibly helpful when I ran into trouble with a shuttle service. He went out of his way to arrange new transportation to Atitlan for me. I stayed one night and had a lovely time. It's a quaint place in the south of the city, away from the more touristy area, with beautiful architecture nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the traditional breakfast was delicious and included. I highly recommend the stay and the excellent service!
