Cebu Hostel Block E

The trouble started on the evening before our fourth night. We came back to find the owner fussing about moving us because we hadn’t paid that last night yet, and they had packed our things without asking. They then wanted more money than we’d agreed on, but accepted the original amount after we refused. The smaller room they moved us to looked better at first, but later we found cockroaches and other little bugs crawling around, and the toilet didn’t work. There was no staff around that late for us to complain to. At first the staff were friendly and gave us a decent room for four nights. We only had cash for three nights when we arrived, and they said we could pay for the last night later. The first three days were fine. After that, they seemed to try to scam us whenever they could. The building had rats, roaches, and trash everywhere. Don’t go there.

Getting around from here was easy, but the room was filthy and had mold. There was debris of some kind on the beds, and they smelled foul. Smoke and ointment smells were everywhere. I wouldn’t recommend it to travelers.

There was a strong storm signal in Hong Kong and no way to arrive, but they wouldn’t offer a rebooking. Instead, they told us to book again and pay again. They might offer you a good deal at first, but then seem to want to squeeze more money out of you. This property is greedy and inconsiderate. Stay away from these scammers.

The location was very good, but the facilities were poor. My room was too small, and during my last stay the air conditioning didn’t work. Staff said they’d fix it but nothing happened. There was quite a bit of noise by the reception counter at night. I booked one room but was given another in a different block. It was a bad experience.
