The owner was very rude. Cash wasn’t mentioned publicly as a requirement, and when we decided to move to another place, he threw a tantrum. I have videos of the interaction. We cancelled the reservation.

The walk to the palace area and Split Riva takes less than five minutes, and the price was pretty affordable. The guy working there had a great sense of humor and looked just like Josh Brolin. I only stayed one night and came away with mixed feelings. Getting the car out of the awful parking spot took a ten-point turn, and if your room faces the station, you may hear trains nonstop. Walking around the area had me wondering if I’d made a terrible mistake. That’s about it.

We arrived around 11 p.m., and Peter greeted us warmly and answered all our questions. The bedroom was small but comfortable, with a fridge, and it was good value for one night. Everything is right in the heart of town, with restaurants and shops nearby, plus the bus and train stations and ferry port. At checkout, the receptionist offered to hold our bags, though we were heading to another place and didn’t need to.
