They canceled our reservation for New Year’s Eve 2019 without giving a reason, so now we have to find another hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Very bad service!

You’re right in the city center, which is great, but the busy main road just beside the place makes it noisy at night.

Getting around was easy, with the metro and tram right outside, and the Danube only a few minutes away on foot. There are lots of places to shop, eat, and drink nearby, plus a currency exchange downstairs with a good rate. We stayed in a large apartment where Margit rents out two rooms. She was lovely and speaks a little German, enough for us to communicate, and she was happy to share tips about Budapest. The whole place was very clean. Guests share a bathroom, while Margit has her own. There’s a fridge, microwave, kettle, dishes, and cutlery in the hallway, and we could leave our bags there before the room was ready. One room is fairly large; the other is a bit smaller but has a built-in upper level with a bed and table or cupboard, with enough room to stand. It gave us a little glimpse of local life. We had a wonderful time with Margit and would happily stay again.

It’s very affordable, with a metro and tram stop right beside the building, so you can get to the Old Town in about 10 minutes. The place is just a small part of an apartment run by an elderly woman, and she takes good care of her guests. The rooms are very sparsely furnished, though, and the beds and mattresses are quite old.

The whole place feels old, and the neighborhood is especially noisy at night. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, and in my opinion accommodation at this level shouldn’t be charging money, though I wouldn’t rent it out either. The hallway smelled of urine. The room’s newest item seemed to be a 25-year-old TV. The bathroom was a hole: the tap was outside the sink, the shower only worked partly, and water came through a couple of holes in the broken boiler. The sockets were coming out of the wall, the sheet covered only two thirds of the bed, and the beds creaked. The extra bed was so narrow even a 10-year-old child couldn’t sleep comfortably on it.
