The Taman Ayu Seminyak

The place was absolutely silent, even though it’s so close to a nightclub and other venues. It’s hidden away really well from the outside area. I picked it because it was affordable and right next to ShiShi, where I had a work event, and was sure it would be noisy. I was impressed, especially for just a one-night stay. The room and bathroom were both huge, and the big wardrobe had heaps of hangers, which would be handy for a longer visit. I thought it was odd that the bath towels were pool-style towels, but they were huge and fluffy, so I was happy with them. Both the check-in and check-out staff were a delight. There’s a restaurant out front and a little breakfast place inside, but I didn’t get to try either.

I rarely write reviews, but I feel I need to warn families, especially anyone traveling with children. The place was extremely dirty. Tiny white bugs that feed on skin were in our bed, and both my husband and I developed rashes from the bites. A week later, even with treatment, we’re still dealing with it. When we found bugs crawling through the bed and room, management offered to move us. The second room was no better, the bed was full of the same white bugs. It was a nightmare. They refunded one night, but that didn’t begin to cover the cost of finding a new hotel in the middle of the night and washing all our clothes so we wouldn’t carry the infestation with us. Absolutely do not stay here.

The staff were very helpful, and the location is great. The building is very old, though, and everything in it needs a complete renovation. The kitchen staff are lovely, but the kitchen itself is dirty. There’s a nice pool, but it has so much CL in it that you can’t breathe normally.

The garden was the only nice thing about this hotel. I had to check out not long after arriving. The bed was incredibly hard, made up of two single beds pushed together, and there were blood spots on the sheets. The pillowcases smelled as if they hadn’t been washed. I asked for fresh linen, then waited 30 minutes and was given a brownish-yellow blanket instead. The bathroom lights were very dim. I’m still waiting for my refund. I don’t recommend it.
