Artemis Villa and Hotel

It’s tucked away from the main road, so it’s peaceful and quiet, but still close to all the action and beach in Seminyak. I loved staying here. Definitely recommend.

We finished our Bali holiday with three nights at Artemis Villa & Hotel and found it wonderfully relaxing. We stayed in both the two-bedroom villa and a Deluxe Apartment, and enjoyed each one. The villa felt peaceful and tropical, with lush greenery, spacious bedrooms, an open living area, a fully equipped kitchen, beautiful bathrooms with stone bathtubs, and its own private pool. The apartment was clean, bright, and thoughtfully laid out, with a cozy living space, dining area, and small terrace. It was comfortable and private, a good fit for couples or solo travelers. The location worked well, peaceful but just minutes from the beach and central Seminyak. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We had breakfast by the pool each day, trying both the Western and Indonesian menus, and everything was delicious. The Balinese massage was so good we booked it more than once. After checkout, their Pre-Departure Retreat let us enjoy a massage and food and have a private room while waiting for our night flight. Such a thoughtful option. Thanks to Artemis for making our final days special. We’d happily return and recommend it to anyone after comfort and relaxation in Bali.

The tropical landscaping is magnificent, and the place has a laid-back feel that suits Bali. The pool is small but comfortable, and the villas are a little old but pleasant and fairly well maintained. It’s a small hotel with just enough staff and facilities, though staff could use a bit more training. There’s no breakfast or restaurant. The hair dryer didn’t work, the entrance driveway is very narrow, and taking a Grab bike through the small lane is easier. The broken tiled paths look beautiful but can be slippery. I asked reception for a late checkout on my last day and they refused, saying the hotel was fully booked. I could see empty villas, with the bedrooms and living rooms in full view because they pull up all the blinds when a villa isn’t occupied. I know late checkout isn’t guaranteed, but it was hard to believe the hotel was full. That left me with a not-so-pleasant end to my stay.

The location is really good, with the beach within walking distance. Most of the staff are friendly, the exterior is well manicured, and the AC is strong. But in reality, I’d rate this as a 2.5 or 3 star hotel, not 4 stars. The rooms are old, and the bathrooms are outdoors. Some windows have no shades, so sunrise will wake you. Taxis may struggle to get through the narrow alleys to reach the hotel.
