Desamuda Village

I wouldn’t choose this hotel for a romantic or restful trip with a partner. Our villa was mostly open air, which was especially hard during the rainstorms. We also had repeated service disappointments and several problems with the plumbing and appliances. If you do stay, I’d arrange day trips on your own instead of through the hotel staff.

We ate both lunch and breakfast at the villa, and everything was delicious, especially the mushroom Alfredo pizza. The rooms were huge, and the outdoor shower and bathtub were great. Suena was so welcoming and kind. Desmuda Villa’s was stunning, and we had a perfect stay.

I’m going back to the Deluxe Pool Villa in Seminyak for the fourth time, this Christmas. For what it costs, you get a lot. The buffet breakfast is decent, and I’m a fan of the traditional dishes available through room service. The location is fantastic, with Kuta and Legian within walking distance.

I’ve stayed here more than 20 times, and it’s my favourite hotel in Bali. I hear it’s due for renovation next year, and I really hope they keep it gentle. The old pool villas and the beautiful, well-maintained garden give the place its character, and losing them through over-renovation would be such a shame. Bali is getting more modern all the time and losing its traditional style, so preserving what makes this hotel unique matters.
