Merta House Jasan Village

Made and his family make you feel like one of their own and can help arrange trips wherever you want to go. Jasan is a laid-back, friendly village with a few shops for basics and lots of wood carvers. The garden is pretty and mature, and you might even spot a chameleon if you look closely. There are comfortable beds, good showers, and a lovely veranda overlooking a large, deep pool. This was my third stay, and I’ll be back again.

The owners were so nice, and the Balinese feel of the place comes through in the plants and statues. We picked this villa because it was close enough by scooter for our Kintamani sunrise plans and offered good value. They had water and served breakfast. After we came back from sunrise for a nap and breakfast, rain delayed checkout, and they kindly let us stay until it passed.

The locals treated us with so much generosity and hospitality, and De Ade was a wonderful host with a heart of gold. The setting is beautiful and a great escape from busy tourist areas. We’re grateful and hope to return soon.

We found it pretty isolated, around a 20 minute drive to Ubud town, so it’s not somewhere to wander around at night. That quiet was welcome, though the roosters nearly drove my friend mad. Made, the manager and private driver, gave us helpful food and activity recommendations and shared stories about village life, ceremonies, rituals, and everyday experiences in Ubud. The staff were warm, accommodating with requests, and made us feel well looked after. Breakfast was cooked in the villa each morning at whatever time we wanted. The pool was clean, a decent size for four, and kept with minimal chemicals. The beds were very comfortable, one king and one double, and the air conditioning and fan kept the villa at a good temperature. The large main bathroom had a well ventilated shower, and there was a second toilet beside the kitchen. For a peaceful stay with such great service, Merta House was a real treat.
