I’d rate this place 3 out of 5. There’s potential here, but a few things got in the way of a comfortable stay. Getting a taxi to the villa can be difficult, so transport needs some planning. The staff’s English is very basic, which made communication hard. Our room had visible mold in the bathroom and a damp smell that lingered. The pool closes at 6 PM and isn’t heated, so unless it’s really warm out, it’s not much use. The on-site “restaurant” charges prices you’d expect at a proper restaurant, but it’s more like a home kitchen. The food was average at best, and there are much better choices elsewhere in Indonesia. Some improvements would make this a more pleasant stay. As it was, it didn’t meet my expectations.

The clean pool, fresh towels, and bed sheets stood out, especially compared with the other places we stayed in Bali. This was also the only place where we saw a dehumidifier, which felt much needed. The property is beautiful and away from the busier areas, so it’s a great setting if you like quiet and nature. Food was okay. The rooms were fairly clean, but the bench and two bean bags were very dirty and smelled bad. All the rooms had a moldy, damp smell, though that seemed common across Bali. The mattress was uncomfortable, and the pillows were so hard and thick that we couldn’t sleep well. We ended up using two small decorative pillows instead. The shower had enough hot water for a quick wash, but the bath only stayed hot for a few seconds before turning cold. It’s also quite far from Ubud, and ordering a taxi was difficult.

We had to change our plans unexpectedly and booked four nights here at the last minute. It turned into a wonderful short holiday. The location is a little remote, but the villa was spacious and comfortable, and everything felt new, clean, and Balinese in style. The pool was great, and the staff were very friendly. I loved falling asleep to the jungle sounds. We also used the villa as a base to visit Mt Batur and Rice Terraces. A bit of a paradise.

I spent 3 days and 2 nights at Villa Lembah Damai in Taro Bali, and it was a really healing escape. It’s some distance from Ubud’s center, but the peaceful surroundings and charm made that worthwhile. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hospitality was warm. I’d definitely return 🥺🥺
