We had to cancel our first trip to Ireland and return to Canada for a personal reason, before our planned drive from Dublin through Kinsale, Dingle, and Galway. The places we'd booked in Kinsale and Dingle kindly waived their fees, even though we cancelled less than 24 hours before our stays. Grange House required four days' notice, otherwise at least the first night's cost was due. We cancelled two days ahead and they wouldn't waive the fee. I understand why a place needs a cancellation policy, but this one was the most restrictive of the lot, and our reason for going home wasn't trivial. When we make it back, we'll book somewhere else in Galway.

Paula made us feel at home as soon as we arrived at Grange House B&B, with coffee, tea, and pastries after our travels. We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful time. Our room and private bathroom were spotless and comfortable, and it was clear Paula had put care into getting everything ready. Breakfast was a real highlight, made to order with fresh ingredients and delicious each morning. Paula's warmth and attention made the stay memorable. We'd love to come back, and would happily recommend the B&B.

We visited in December and loved the Christmas decorations around the city and the Christmas market. The B&B is also very handy for getting into the city center, with a bus stop right across the street. Paula and her father were lovely, and Paula was very accommodating. One morning she made us breakfast to order, and the next we had a plentiful continental breakfast. Our room was a good size and the bathroom had been updated. It's a very well-kept place. If we return to Galway, we'd absolutely stay here again. Thanks, Paula.

My daughter had booked a weekend at this accommodation with her boyfriend, but had to cancel at short notice after her grandfather, my father, passed away. She understood the cancellation policy and was willing to reschedule instead of asking for a refund. Booking.com let her choose other available dates, but the owner wouldn't agree to the change. Then the owner blocked her number, so she couldn't get in touch. I've reported the matter to Booking.com. The financial loss wasn't significant, but the way this was handled was appalling. I've never seen such a lack of empathy from a business owner. If an unforeseen tragedy affects your booking, don't expect flexibility, understanding, or even basic communication. This was terrible customer service and, to me, sheer greed.

Paula is a star, and breakfast was excellent. The house is just off the Dublin Road as you come into Galway, and you can see the bus stop into town from outside. It's at the end of the road, with buses no more than 15 minutes apart. The ride to Eyre Square/Bus Terminal takes less than 20 minutes and cost €1.35.
