Friary View Bed Breakfast

The rooms and bathroom are kept incredibly clean, and the bed is comfortable. The hosts are delightful, and the place has a charming feel. Breakfast includes a delicious Irish option, with gluten-free choices available if requested. It's in a quiet neighborhood but easy to walk into town. A real gem in this lovely town.

Finding Friary View was easy, with three signs pointing the way from the town center. The owners welcomed us at the door and already knew we were Americans visiting. They took us the short hop to the train station, and said they could have collected us if we had asked. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Ireland and the UK. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, and we enjoyed talking with German travelers in the dining room. We were short on time, but there was enough food to have filled us for the day. A welcome book listed restaurants, places of worship, and attractions, and the Wi-Fi password was on the door. Our room had a pleasant, unobstructed view and plenty of furniture, including a tea set and an easy chair. The bed was comfortable, with lots of covers, and we felt relaxed enough to nap as soon as we checked in. The small TV worked well despite its odd location. My one real gripe was the clunky in-line water heater in the shower. I found it difficult to use and couldn't get a steady temperature, at least as an American. It was my favorite place to stay on an almost two-week trip where we changed cities nearly every day. Everything else was exemplary, and I was very happy there. Leaving after just one day felt sad; I'd gladly return.

I slept better here than I have in ages, and breakfast the next morning was tasty. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the hosts were welcoming, kind, and attentive. I'd happily come back.

I slept brilliantly here, the bed was so comfortable. The room was a good size and the house was clean, with free Wi-Fi. Towels were changed every day, and breakfast set me up for the day. The lady of the house was pleasant and helpful, and knew lots about local places to visit and eat. I couldn't have found a better place to stay, and would come again.
