Killarney Riverside Hotel

Reservations were excellent before we booked. They told us offers would be coming up and promised to ring when they did. We thought it was pie in the sky, but they kept their word and let us know. We took a three-night B&B and one dinner deal, and spent a very pleasant few days here. The food was lovely, breakfast excellent, and the staff were brilliant, couldn't do enough for us. We also really appreciated the Welcome Pack waiting in our room when we arrived. We'd stayed here more than 20 years ago and liked it then, but it's improved so much since. We'd recommend giving it a try.

The hotel is closed to the public at the moment and is being used to help Ukrainians, probably people displaced by the war. It seems like a very special place, run by someone equally special. Thank you for what you're doing.

The food was the bright spot: both dinner and breakfast tasted good and were good quality, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Sleep was another matter. Our first room faced a busy road, and the old windows let in so much noise that we couldn't sleep. We moved rooms for the second night, which was quieter, though earplugs were still needed. Bring some if you want a decent night's rest. The hotel looks lovely outside, but the rooms felt very dated. There were stains across the carpet, the bathroom was filthy, and the curtains and bath were yellowed. The sink was cracked. Such a shame we didn't sleep well.

We had a nice Valentine's break, and the cosy bar and our very nice dinner there were highlights. Breakfast was good too. The hotel itself was pleasant, though I wouldn't rate it as four-star. The bedrooms are dated, and the bed wasn't as comfortable as hotel beds usually are. We also had to change rooms after the TV remote stopped working and the issue couldn't be sorted.
