John and the rest of the staff were great when we needed help with concerns about a possible ferry cancellation. The thoughtful postcard with souvenirs waiting in our room was a lovely surprise, something I’ve never experienced at another Premier Inn. The family room was clean and comfortable, with a nice view from the higher floors. It gives you what you’d expect from a decent Premier Inn, plus a little more, even if it doesn’t look as grand as some of the Island’s premium hotels. The location is handy for central Douglas, especially M&S. There’s no on-site parking, which is understandable given the limited space around here. I used Chester Street Car Park. It was a pleasant base for exploring the Island.

We arrived early after a flight and couldn’t check in yet, but the staff greeted us warmly and took us straight to the breakfast area since we hadn’t eaten. There was a big range of fresh, piping hot food with choices for everyone. We’d definitely stay here again on our next trip and couldn’t recommend it more. A big thumbs up from us ☺️

I came back to the Island about three weeks after my first trip and booked four nights at the Premier Inn Douglas through Expedia. I’d stayed at the Empress before, but found it run down and a bit inconvenient for walking into town. At check-in, I spotted a couple of room issues, one of which was actually my fault. I was exhausted and left it until morning, when the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Even though they were close to full, they moved me to another room. It was clean, modern, and well appointed, and a big improvement on my previous hotel. The location works well for getting around Douglas, and the ferry terminal is within walking distance. Parking can be a hassle, either using a nearby multi-storey or shifting the car around on the promenade. If you know what you’re doing it’s manageable, but visitors might find it difficult, though that’s not the Premier Inn’s fault. I’d also pay a little extra for breakfast. As an early riser who needs coffee to function, it was great to be able to eat and get caffeine from 6:30 am, since finding coffee and breakfast in Douglas before 8:00 am can be tough. Good value, great hotel and staff. Recommended.

The room was simple, but comfortable and handy for a one-night stay. The large bed and mattress topper made for a good night's sleep. Breakfast had a huge range of hot and cold food, and it took some effort not to keep going back to the buffet. The reception team were friendly and efficient. A short, very pleasant stay at Premier Inn Douglas.

The evening staff were great, but this was still the worst Premier Inn I've stayed in. We had booked three rooms after travelling overnight from Scunthorpe by ferry. At 8:30 in the morning we were told our early check-in meant we couldn't get into the rooms until 11, which we understood. But when we came back at 12:15, manager Ashton said other guests hadn't left yet and our rooms weren't ready. We went out again and returned at 1. When we asked about a refund for the early check-in, Ashton said check-in started at 11 and told us to contact customer services if we weren't happy. We explained we'd already tried twice. He let me use the hotel phone, but the number he gave me was wrong. I wondered if that was deliberate. While we sat in reception calling customer services, there was broken glass on the floor and table, and stained, filthy window sills. We pointed it out and said a child sitting nearby could have cut himself. Ashton wasn't helpful. The room wasn't much better. There were stains on the sheets, the bottom sheet wasn't fitted properly, and the hairdryer didn't work. We were too tired to complain. We also often had to wait for someone at reception, Ashton had no name badge, and the bin under the desk was overflowing with staff waste. The place felt badly managed, and the manager seemed undertrained. Maybe Ashton needs hospitality training to improve his customer service and management skills.
