Nördlys Scandinavian Apartments

We only went to ask about our booking, but the guards at the entrance responded very badly. They hesitated to give us any information about the property or owners, and no contact details or way to look around were provided. The place gave us a very suspicious vibe, and we couldn’t tell what sort of business they were running. After reading other reviews, we decided not to go back to Nordyls Home Stay. Very bad service. Even one star feels like more than this place deserves.

There was a kitchen with enough utensils to make tea and coffee in the morning, and the property had a wall and a gate with a guard. The place is comfortable and spacious for a family or group, but given what it costs, it leaves a lot to be desired. I’m sharing this as an NRI. We stayed one night after booking online through AirBnb. Check-in was strange. We arrived after 3, but the manager at the desk had to call the owner for our codes, which was frustrating and made it feel like we weren’t trusted. They gave us one room first, then had to make another call before we could get the second. The rooms weren’t as clean as I expected for the price. The quilts and couch looked dirty, some of the walls and paint were crumbling, one bathroom had a terrible sewage odor, and there wasn’t enough hot water for showers. The front doors had no deadbolts or chains, so I didn’t feel safe at night. When leaving, we couldn’t go until the guard checked the rooms to make sure we hadn’t taken anything. That made me feel kind of trapped. If I stayed here again, I wouldn’t pay what I did.

The property is in a prime, posh area, but the experience was bad. The bathrooms were dirty and smelled bad, the atmosphere was unfriendly, and the service was completely awful.

The rooms and bed sheets smelled awful, and safety wasn’t adequate. Even the staff could access the codes for the rooms we were assigned. This was our second stay at the property, but the owner’s behavior changed completely. First, he gave us the wrong rooms when booking and admitted the mistake. When we asked to switch rooms, he stopped answering calls and messages. His staff told us he was travelling. We waited 48 hours for a response, but after taking the full amount, he never bothered to reply and started torturing us by cutting the power. Please look at other options and avoid Nordlys. Spend a few extra bucks and you may find a far better property.
