OYO 23578 Gompus

We had lunch here, and the food was good. The ambience was nice, and the staff were quick and courteous. The Nepali and Chinese dishes are especially tasty, so I'd suggest choosing from those. Parking nearby is difficult since the restaurant is in one of the busiest parts of town.

The restroom could use a proper cleaning, but we had a really nice couple of lunches here with the family. The restaurant is right by the clock tower/Damber chowk. We tried Chicken Momo, Ting Momo with Pork Shyapta and Chicken Shyapta, Pork Fried rice, Pork in Oyster sauce, and Chicken manchow fried rice, and liked all of them. The pork fried rice was my favorite. The food and music were great, and the man at the bar who handles the music played excellent songs, including my favorite band when I asked. The smiling man and young lady recommended and explained dishes, and the chef sent out lovely, lip-smacking food. We'd go back if we visit Kalimpong again.

The restrooms were a huge disappointment, dirtier than public ones I've seen, and I'd rather hold it than use them. The food was below par, with dishes either undercooked or overcooked. I can't believe this is the best Kalimpong has to offer. I don't like being overly critical, but this restaurant was a nightmare. If you're reading this, do your appetite and taste buds a favor and stay away.

Gompus used to be my favorite momo place, but I won't go back. Three of us ate lunch there today, and by evening all three had symptoms like food poisoning. That's a serious food safety concern. The restaurant needs to improve the quality and freshness of its ingredients because people can get really sick. Awful.
