Ramada by Wyndham Katra Station Road

On 6th Feb, my elderly parents arrived early at Ramada by Wyndham, Katra and were handed keys to two rooms, though only one had a Trikuta Parvat view. When I came and raised the issue, staff offered generic “subject to availability” excuses and took no responsibility, despite a clear promise the day before. There was no effort to sort it out, even with advance notice and repeated requests, and no empathy for senior citizens. We had checked out on 5th Feb for a stay at Bhawan, after returning on 4th Feb for our yatra. That first day, my wife, our 6-year-old daughter, my parents aged 72 and 65, and I waited a long time for our two rooms. Eventually just one had the view. I accepted that it might be due to availability and didn't make an issue of it. Before leaving, we told reception we had another booking for 6th Feb and would only return if both rooms had a Trikuta Parvat view. A lady at reception explicitly assured us both rooms would be arranged and said “not to worry,” as it was being handled ahead of time. That assurance turned out to be misleading. If the view is subject to availability, staff shouldn't make firm promises just to avoid a confrontation. I booked the hotel after researching reviews that mentioned the view, but this experience damaged my trust in the brand. The infrastructure is decent, yet service and staff training are seriously lacking. I'd think twice before choosing it again, especially for family or senior-citizen travel.

The worst part was that all 6 kids fell ill one after another and began vomiting. It seems unlikely to be a coincidence, and the only thing they all shared was the hotel's food and water. It leaves serious concerns about hygiene and food quality. We were traveling with those six children, but there was no consideration when we arrived for early check-in. The hotel had called the day before to ask about it, then refused when we got there. We could see several guests checking out, but they made no effort to help us. I also called the help desk five times for a basic dental kit. Nobody brought it, so I went to collect it myself. After all that, they still charged the full laundry amount without hesitation. A really disappointing stay. If you care about your family's health and peace of mind, avoid this place.

The calm, family-friendly atmosphere made our trip more enjoyable, and we'd happily stay here again. The staff made us comfortable from the beginning, with a quick, hassle-free check-in. The front desk team was courteous and ready to help with requests.

The rooms we were given didn't all have a good view. One looked out on nothing in particular, while the other, provided at our request, faced the mountain and offered a view of the Vaishnodevi track and Ardhkumari Mandir. It would've been better to have rooms on the front side. The staff also arranged complimentary conveyance to the helipad, which we appreciated. We stayed at Ramada Katra while going for Darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi. The rooms were spacious, clean, and tidy, and the staff were courteous and well trained. Breakfast was complimentary, tasty, and had a good variety. Overall, a comfortable stay. Thanks to the hotel staff for their support.
