TM Hotel

I’ve been on plenty of business trips, and this was the worst experience I’ve had. Don’t trust the photos the lady sends. That room isn’t worth Rs. 1000. Please read my full comments before booking.

I stayed for two nights on an official visit to Madurai. The location is the main draw: it’s easy to reach, close to the bus stand and railway station, within walking distance of Meenakshi Amman Temple, and surrounded by shops in a busy area. The front of the hotel looks royal, but past reception the rooms and interiors have an old-fashioned feel and don’t quite suit a modern corporate stay. The room was spacious. It felt safe for a family, and the staff were decent and helpful. Convenient and comfortable mainly because of where it is.

There’s no hotel parking, so you have to use a nearby private lot that charges ₹150 every 12 hours. If you miss taking the car out by the end of the first 12 hours, another ₹150 is charged automatically. Parking again there costs another ₹150 for the next 12 hours. For one day, that can add up to ₹450, while the hotel covers only the first 12 hours and guests pay the rest. No one clearly explained this beforehand, and it was very inconvenient. The room windows also hadn’t been cleaned even after I told reception, which showed poor maintenance and follow-up. A disappointing stay because of the unexpected parking costs and poor service response.

When we checked in, the room hadn’t been cleaned, and the bathroom was completely unhygienic. The western toilet seat was broken and unusable. The room boy kept asking for tips instead of doing his job, and there’s no car parking, so we had to look for a space on the crowded nearby streets. This is the absolute worst hotel near Meenakshi Amman Temple. Save your money and peace of mind and book somewhere else.
