The calm atmosphere and cleanliness stood out during my stay at Maharaja Residency in Manapparai. My room was clean, well kept, and comfortable for the price. The staff were polite and helpful, and the location works well for people passing through town or visiting nearby temples. It felt suitable for solo travelers as well as families, and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a decent place to stay in Manapparai.
We were there for our first stay in Manapparai, so I don't know how the other hotels compare. Because of the heavy bookings on muhurtham dates, only a non a/c room was available. The room was filthy, especially the bathroom, and they even stopped the water for tank cleaning while guests were staying there. We checked out early in the morning. I can't say how the a/c rooms are, but Maharaja could be a better choice if they revived it and did some maintenance. Front office staff Sivakumar, at least, was cooperative and polite.
Not worth the money. The place wasn't clean, the service was poor, and the bedsheets and towels were very dirty. There were mosquitoes everywhere.
The rent is moderate, especially given Manapparai's high house rents and strong demand. The restaurant seems well suited to Manapparai. The town's developed area is small, but Maharaja Residency sits in a prime spot on the main Dindigul Trichy road. Its elevation also makes it stand out, so it's an unusual find in the surrounding area.
The rooms were badly maintained, and the toilets weren't suitable for ladies. Mosquitoes and other insects kept attacking us, so we couldn't sleep at all. We checked out early and ended up using a restaurant toilet. A railway station platform would have been a better place to stay.
