Shivraj Homestay

I booked three rooms for a family trip and paid 1500/- per room. The facilities fell short of what I expected, and the stay on 21-22 Nov 2023 wasn't good. I visited that week. The rooms had no windows or ventilation and felt suffocating. The blankets weren't clean, and there was no parking, so you'd have to figure that out yourself if arriving by car. The AC and TV didn't work, though since it wasn't hot, we somehow managed. There was a lot of noise because the owner lives on the second floor, while bookings are on the ground and first floors. There was no ghyger in the bathroom. When we asked for hot water, they brought it bucket by bucket. Outside food wasn't allowed, and the hotel's food was expensive and poor quality. When we ordered from their menu, it seemed the food came from a dhaba or local hotel, and they charged extra for it.

I lost my booking money when I cancelled after arriving and seeing the hotel's pathetic atmosphere. I had paid Rs. 1000 in advance. The staff seemed irresponsible, and they were eating gutka/pan masala. There was a bad smell, with people smoking inside. In front of reception, two people were waiting to use the common toilet. It felt like a local BAR. Please don't go with family, and never visit this worst hotel.

At check-in they insisted on full payment, and the rooms felt poor for what they cost. We had to ask for clean pillow covers and sheets, and then request another sheet because one was torn. The solar hot water didn't work at night, so after sunset you have to ask for hot water. Staff only helped after repeated requests, even for something as simple as connecting to wifi, which meant going to them several times. I wouldn't recommend booking here. This is honest feedback from a dissatisfied customer. They may hide it or respond defensively, but these concerns are 100 percent genuine.

We checked in around 7am and left around 9am, just 2.5hrs later, but were charged 1600/-. They'd told us the bathrooms had hot water, yet none came through. In Mathura's cold weather, bathing without it was very difficult. Quite expensive.
