It is a wonderful spot to slow down and take in the view. The rooms are basic but described as sparkling clean, with functional bathrooms and the traditional layouts you might expect in a heritage building. The decor is modest and colorful, with block-printed linens, Jharokha-style windows, and whitewashed walls that help keep rooms cool in the Rajasthan heat. Food centers on the rooftop cafe. Reviews often praise the Masala Chai and breakfast Poha and Parathas, and the small kitchen usually makes food to order. If asked, the family may also cook Rajasthani dishes such as Gatte ki Sabzi. The owners are often described as kind and honest, treating guests like family and helping with the Old City’s maze of streets or airport transport. Solo travelers have also mentioned feeling safe, and say staff try to keep local vendors from overcharging them. This is a family-run, converted traditional haveli in Rao Ji Ka Hata, a short walk from the City Palace. The neighborhood’s history is tied to Udaipur’s nobility: “Hata” referred to enclosed residential clusters associated with clans or senior officials in the Maharana’s court. The property gives an intimate look at traditional Mewari life and the Rajasthani idea of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (The Guest is God). Guests may see everyday family rituals, including incense at the family altar and traditional meal preparation. It’s a budget-friendly place with no elevator or infinity pool, and the price is often a fraction of lakeside hotels. Backpackers and long-stay travelers consider the value unbeatable. Best suited to budget travelers, solo explorers, and people after a local experience. Ask for a higher-floor room if you want better ventilation and easier rooftop access.

I booked a room online well ahead of time, but the owner cancelled it just one day before check-in. When I asked why, I learned they had given the room to someone willing to pay more. It felt greedy and dishonest, and the behavior was completely unprofessional and unethical. If confirmed bookings can be dropped for extra money, I can’t trust the service. I’d strongly advise people to stay elsewhere, where customers are treated with respect.

The rooftop restaurant and seating area have an excellent 360 degree view of the city, thanks to the height and location. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the accommodation was decent for what it cost. The property is newly developed, with very clean rooms and fittings in good condition. I visited this week during winter and found it a very nice place to stay, centrally located for the tourist attractions. The owner and all the staff were especially polite, professional, and cooperative. Overall, it felt safe, comfortable, satisfying, and worth the price.

This booking ruined our trip and left us stressed, with our time wasted and the feeling that we didn’t matter. We had reserved two rooms well in advance and trusted the confirmation, but the hotel cancelled shortly before we arrived, giving what seemed to us like a made-up excuse. When we checked directly, rooms were available, but they would only offer them at a higher price. To me that was dishonest and money-driven, with no professionalism or basic decency. I would tell others not to trust this hotel. We felt lied to, and I believe they were willing to wreck guests’ plans to get more money. There are plenty of better hotels, and I think this one should be boycotted.
