Ixzire

Our small family received such a warm welcome that it's hard to imagine a better one. The hosts are the main reason we'd love to return to Ixzire, even on a tight itinerary. It feels more like an upmarket homestay than a resort, and guests and children are treated especially well. The place is remote and rustic, which made our stay distinctive, though that setting may not suit everyone. The distance from Port Blair city and Bambooflat jetty could be a downside. We actually enjoyed the scenic journey from the jetty each time. The cottage was comfortable and just for us. We liked having tea and snacks on the porch, and the airy restaurant served very good food. We have allergies to most foods, but had no complaints about the dishes. We heard the restaurant might have a bar in the future. As teetotalers, we were happy with what we had. The property's atmosphere, cleanliness, food quality and portions, punctuality, hospitality, and transport arrangements were all strong points. The staff who took us on day trips were very polite. On the drive back from the Baratang limestone caves, an emergency in the middle of Jarawa forest reserve could have led to serious trouble with the island authorities or even physical harm. The gentleman driving the luxury SUV assigned exclusively to us throughout the stay stayed confident and calm. We're grateful to him and our hosts for making what could have been a frightening situation into a safe, memorable vacation. Dushtu, who we understood to be a five-year-old cross-breed with a face a lot like a Rottweiler, was friendly and entertaining for dog lovers. We'd recommend this comfortable, cozy, offbeat place to anyone vacationing in Port Blair, Andaman Islands.
