The rooftop cafe has heaters to take the edge off the winter wind, and you can see snowy mountains in winter. For vegetarians, the food choices were limited to vegetable pizza or veg pasta. Reception staff were somewhat rude to us, and we had to hand over our passports at check-in and pay in advance for the number of nights we planned to stay. English isn’t widely spoken, Farsi is more common around Iran. My overall experience in Iran was good, and the local people I dealt with during the visit were very humble and hospitable.

I spent four months here, so I got to know the place. The staff are friendly and try to help, but the building’s systems are in terrible shape. I had to switch rooms five times because of defects. In the last room, smoke from people smoking in the corridors came in freely. The bedroom AC was badly designed and pulled air in from those corridors. Simorgh has a no-smoking policy, but management doesn’t seem willing to enforce it. Showers are frustrating too: every minute or so the water drops to a trickle until the booster pump starts again. I wouldn’t stay here again.

After four days here, I can say it was awful. The wallpaper in the room was dirty, and the curtains were stained and filthy. There was no fresh air. On hot days the air conditioning didn’t work, and the windows were locked. The bathroom was too small, had no step, and felt dangerous to get out of. I’m never coming back. A complete waste of money.

I had a horrible stay and felt I was scammed. Before checkout, I checked the room service fees to make sure the amount was right. That evening, when I was leaving, the bill was $200 more than the correct amount, and no one explained where the extra charge came from. I had to pay because they wouldn’t let me leave and I needed to get to the airport. I later tried to get answers from management, but heard nothing. I believe they take advantage of foreigners and people who don’t know the language. The cleaning staff were the kindest and most genuine people I encountered, though I also saw them being treated badly. I can’t recommend supporting a hotel that treats foreign guests differently and acts dishonestly. I emailed them for months and got no reply to any of my messages or to this post. What kind of management does that? It may look nice, but inside it’s rotten. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Avoid it if you can.

My first stay at Simorgh Hotel was great. My wife and I booked three nights, the staff were polite, the furniture was in excellent condition, breakfast tasted good for the price, and the BRT station was right beside the hotel. I came back a second time, but it wasn’t as good as before. The receptionist didn’t greet us warmly, and despite some renovations, some equipment was old. The toilet was especially old and didn’t work properly. Breakfast had also gone downhill compared with two years earlier. I’ve stayed in several hotels over the past two months, and they supplied alcohol spray in the room. Simorgh didn’t.
