Moshir Al-mamalek Hotel

The food at the restaurant in Moshir al-Mamalek Hotel in Yazd was a big letdown. The kebabs were dry and tasteless, the food quality overall was extremely poor, and the prices felt surprisingly high for what we got. Service was unprofessional, and our food took a long time to arrive. A few waiters stood just two meters from our table, talking loudly and repeatedly making eye contact, which felt intrusive and uncomfortable. With such a beautiful setting, we expected much better. The restaurant needs serious work on both food and service.

We upgraded to their best available room, but it was half the size and twice the price of another hotel we found in the Old Town. The rooms here are very small and dirty, and when we tried to cut our stay short by a day to move to the other place, the hotel refused to refund that night. The location is far too remote for a hotel. It's overrated, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it or stay again.

The rooms have small windows and barely look out onto the lovely garden and its dense, lively trees. Despite its traditional charm, our room felt very old and unclean. The bathroom towels didn't have a “clean towel” note, and there was no “sealed and sanitized” note on the toilet either. That left us uncomfortable enough to avoid using the shower. I hope the room cleanliness improves so we can choose this beautiful hotel again. The garden itself is wonderful, with old trees, winding narrow paths, streams, and tiled ponds. Staff meticulously clean the yard, garden, and water channels, and they were warm and friendly. Food at the traditional restaurant was light, homely, and delicious, and the fast-food café at the end of the garden had good quality and prices. Breakfast was served there too: unlike Safaieh Hotel, where eggs are served precooked, a chef made the hot omelet or fried egg we wanted in lovely copper dishes. You could eat outside in the garden, which was very pleasant.

We tried to cancel our booking and leave two days early, but the hotel wouldn't refund those remaining days. It was overpriced, in a bad location, and the rooms felt outdated. On first use the shower door fell off, rusty water came from the shower, the carpets were dirty, and breakfast had instant coffee. Service was very poor, apart from one butler who helped guests carry bags to their rooms. He was exceptional at his job and very attentive. We came here on our honeymoon.
