The owner and manager made us feel completely at home, and the hotel is very well placed for exploring the Golden Circle. During our 15-night Ring Road trip in early September, it left a lasting positive impression. I asked the manager for advice about a challenging trip to Landmannalaugar. By breakfast the next morning, he had mapped out the key sights along the way, with short detours suited to what we could manage. His thoughtful planning gave us a lot of confidence for the highlands. We were also intrigued to learn the unique building had survived an earthquake and had once been a women’s prison. After long hikes, the hot shower’s water pressure was excellent, and the nutritious breakfast was filling. We were glad we stayed three nights. Highly recommend!

We drove the whole ring road, and this was our favorite stop. The owners are welcoming and fun, and made us feel right at home. The accommodations were very comfortable and breakfast was perfect. Selfoss is nearby, with great restaurants and interesting things to see and do. I wish we’d stayed more than one night. Highly, highly recommend.

Everything else was perfect, and we loved the place. We were a little nervous about sharing restrooms at first, but they were super clean. We overslept and unfortunately missed breakfast. Highly recommend it to anyone!

I liked the neat, simply decorated rooms and the lovely view into the distance from the windows. The accommodation was very clean and pleasant, especially the bathrooms. Breakfast had a wide selection, including gluten-free muesli. I’d definitely stay here again.
