Lighthouse Inn

The front desk receptionist gave us a warm welcome, and the breakfast buffet was good. Our room was a good size and very clean, with a comfy bed. The kettle came in handy, there’s a microwave in the common area if you need it, and the shower was great. It’s also a nice spot to try to catch the Aurora.

We were lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights on our first night, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The place was incredible, easy to reach, and very clean and well looked after. Everyone on staff was friendly. We also had delicious food and drinks at the EOS Table restaurant inside the hotel, with exceptional service.

The staff made this stay especially memorable. They gave us advice on spotting the lights and even called the restaurant we were eating at, which they’d recommended, to let them know the Aurora was starting. It was still going strong when we got back to the hotel, and the staff shared the moment and our excitement. Since we had a very early flight and would miss breakfast, they made us sandwiches to take along at 4:30AM. The hotel is very clean, with cozy rooms and a warm interior. It sits right at the edge of Southwestern Iceland, and we were lucky to see a wonderful Aurora Borealis display on our last night. Special thanks to Matta and the new guy, whose name I never caught, for such warm Icelandic hospitality. We’ll likely be back.

We only stayed overnight before our flight. The location was good and close to the airfield, and the place was clean and tidy. The bathroom air conditioning was a little noisy in the room, though after a long day out we were tired, so it didn’t really bother us. We arrived late and left early, around 2200-0500, so I can’t really comment on the surroundings.
